Has watching the Tour de France got you all jazzed up for watching pro and Elite level racing, up close and personal?
Come volunteer for the Northampton Cycling Club’s Tour of the Hilltown’s this Saturday, July 21, 2112. This is THE event in Western Massachusetts for watching live road cycling at its finest. The races start and end at the Notchview Reservation on Route in Windsor, MA (hilly, right?).
Volunteers are treated right with food, beverages, and the chance to win prizes. This is a fantastic event, one that is really special to watch. Please do volunteer if you can, and check out the race route to see if they’ll come by your door so you can get out and cheer.
Dear NCC friends,
The Northampton Cycling Club’s premier road racing event – The Tour of the Hilltowns – is back for it’s 14th year on Saturday, July 21 and WE NEED YOUR HELP to pull it off!
With less than two weeks remaining we need your help in the following critical areas:
:: Lead & follow drivers ($50 stipend) – follow or lead the peloton (just like Le Tour!)
:: Corner marshals – watch the race from pivotal corners!
:: Pre & post-race course work – recon the road conditions before your wheels do!
:: Registration assistants – Sun Tzu says, “Know your competition” (or something to that effect)
:: Parking Pro’s – Good for racers looking to help out.
We cannot run this race without your help!
NCC’s sponsors have stepped up to offer nearly $1,000 in raffle prizes to race volunteers and with these odds you could be riding home with one of the following:
3 – Berkshire East Zip Line Mountain Top tours ($85 each!)
5 – $20 gift certificates from The People’s Pint in Greenfield, MA
45 – One free beer tickets from The People’s Pint
5 – High & Mighty Beer Company six-packs
3 – $10 Northampton Coffee gift cards
1 – Wine tasting for two at Black Birch Vineyard in Southampton, MA
1 – Wine/beer gift basket from Atkins Farms Market in Amherst, MA
6 – pairs NCC logo / DeFeet cycling socks from Northampton Bicycle
NCC aims to make volunteering as enjoyable as possible. In thanks for your commitment, volunteers will also:
:: Receive a great lunch!
:: Make yourself eligible for NCC’s Racer Rewards
:: See an awesome race!
:: Be part of great club event!
Volunteering for the Tour of the Hilltowns offers a unique opportunity to meet and work with like-minded folks in putting together something the local cycling community can be proud of – we hope you’ll join us!

This is a fantastic event, one that is really special to watch. I’ve seen how fast they go, even up those incredible hills (mountains?) even my car thinks twice about. Please do volunteer if you can, and check out the race route to see if they’ll come by your door so you can get out and cheer.
