Manhan River Bridge Goes In

Last Friday’s Daily Hampshire Gazette, [subscription required] included a small notice that due to the installation of the rail trail bridge over the Manhan River in Easthampton there would be traffic delays.

This bridge is the final piece in a continuous Manhan Rail Trail off-road bike path from Northampton, MA through Easthampton, MA. Currently, cyclists on the Manhan Rail Trial must leave the trail, cross traffic, travel several hundred feet on the road, then cross traffic again to rejoin the trail. The bridge will allow biking across the river on a beautiful bike path!

The one mile section from the current end in Easthampton to the Southampton town line is scheduled to be completed later this Fall.

I hope to get over there soon and take some photos so look for them here.

Hi Gina, Nice articles on trail progress. Take a look at RidewithGPS.com. Click on “Bike Paths” in the upper right corner of the map to highlight bike paths. Pete

  2. Pete,

Thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out. I’ve poked around there before, but I don’t think I’ve used the “Bike Path” button. Good to know.

    Gina
