Will You Bike For Food?

The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts is sponsoring a fundraising event, Will Bike For Food: A Benefit Ride Towards a Hunger-Free Community, on September 17, 2011.

The rides leave from Millside Park at 2 Ferry Street in Easthampton, the same park where the Grand Opening of the Manhan Rail Trail bridge over MA Route 10 took place.

They offer rides of 25, 50 and 100 miles with rest stops and refreshments. You can bike as an individual, or as a team. There is a small entry fee, and a $250 fundraising minimum per cyclist. The after party includes music, food and drink.

As beautiful as Western Massachusetts is, hunger does exist here. The Food Bank purchases, collects and distributes food to agencies throughout Western Massachusetts which then provide the food to those who need it. Right here in our community. If you are inclined to do a fundraising ride, consider adding this one to your calendar.

Registration materials and more information are available from the Food Bank’s event web page.

Thanks for the write-up Gina. I have been gathering people from my workplace since May. I am going for the century! My first!

    • Tim,

Excellent! The century is not in the cards for me this time, but maybe the 50. My first century I got to ride with my regular riding partner and that made it a lot easier! Good for you, I hope it goes very well. Thanks for raising money to help feed people!
